Team Meeting Exercise Template

Strengthening your team's negotiation prowess requires regular, focused practice, not a one-and-done training seminar. Our Negotiation Exercise Template is designed to help your team continuously practice the tactics described in the Complete Negotiation Toolkit.

How it works: Each month, carve out 10-20 minutes of your team meeting for negotiation practice, using the included template to create 3-5 exercises for your team to address. On each slide, describe an obstacle they might face in a negotiation. Then give team members each a turn in the “hot seat,” asking how they might use the tactics on of the Negotiation Toolkit (shown on the slide for reference) to respond effectively.

Why it Works: The goal is to build muscle memory. With so many tools at their disposal, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. By running through scenarios regularly and requiring each team member to come up with specific language for each response, you slowly use repetition to deepen their understanding. Be sure to encourage other team members to offer feedback and discuss alternates, using the toolkit to contextualize and discover additional strategies.
